General Information:
Brasilia is a spectacular capital of Brazil, taking the place of Rio de Janeiro as the capital in the April 21, 1960. Brasilia is also a natural interjection for treks into Brazil's northern and interior terrain. Travelers on their way to other destinations must make a stop over at Brasilia, at least long enough to take a city tour and catch a glimpse of the unparalleled and ultra-chic urban designs. The city is a unique collection of Congressional buildings, shopping centers, and cathedrals, all interspersed among the stunning greenery of city parks. In recognition of its spectacular city scenery, UNESCO declared Brasilia a World Heritage Site. A few of the sites to visit include the Palacio de Alvorada, Palacio do Jaburu etc.

Botanical Garden of Brasilia is an ecological reserve of 4500 acres, though a little more than 500 are open for visitors.
Gruta de Terra Ronca is a worthwhile side trip while in Brasilia, travel to the cave at Terra Ronca, and a recently discovered Angelica-Bezerra.
Transportation:
Brasilia has one of the busiest Airports of the country. International flights have a stopover at Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo. The Central Bus Terminal has buses that go to everywhere in the city, while boarding, ask the driver or the other passengers if the bus goes to your destination. Do avoid taking the vans; they are not at all comfortable. Avoid Taxi, as they are expensive. There is no railway network in the City.

Two big shopping areas sit on either side of the bus station. The older one is the Conjunto Nacional and in the northern side, the modern Shopping mall is famed as the Conjunto Venancio. In addition, there are large crafts fair which takes place under the TV Tower a bazaar where you will get leather ware to Semi precious stones studded wares. They are open from morning eight to six at evening.
Hotels:
All hotels are in the north either Hotel Sector or the South Hotel Sector, both are five-minute walk away from the City Shopping Malls. The only real variety is the level of luxury and size of the building.
