Akron, Ohio

Akron is situated at the northeastern part of Ohio on the Cuyahoga River. The city of Akron lies between Cleveland to the north and to the south lies Canton. Nestled at the western side of the Pennsylvanian border was founded in the year 1825. The city comprises of the total area of 161.6 sq. Km. The history of the rubber industry and the history of the city is mutually related to each other.

Climate :

Akron is blessed with a humid continental climate with a fairly well distributed rainfall throughout the land. Most of the rainfall occurs during the summer months while autumn receives a less amount of rainfall. The irony of the climatic conditions lies in the fact that although December happens to be the cloudiest month, July being the sunniest month receives much of the rainfall. Snowfall received by the state is lighter in compare to the other snowbelt areas to the north and Lake Erie is said to impart a great influence on the weather.

Places Of Attraction

Akron is dotted with numerous places of attraction that provides tourists a perfect getaway to fun and entertainment. Built in the year 1926 Akron Civic Theatre is renowned for its exquisite Spanish Baroque Revival architecture. The movie palace showcases entertainments that range from classic movies to rock concerts of the modern times. Cleveland Metroparks Zoo marks the visit of more than one million visitors through the year round. Check out for the Rain Forest that once again makes way for the Amazon in the Northeastern part of Ohio. The annual events in the zoo comprises of Howl at the Moon, Earth Day Festival and Boo-at-the-zoo. Lake Anna Park host numerous entertainment shows for the whole year round.

The Lake Anna being a natural body of water encloses an area of ten acre that happens to be a remainder of the past ice age. The city is dotted with old restaurants and shopping centers. Quaker Square nestled at the heart of the downtown of Akron is a popular mall to opt for extensive shopping. West Point market is a notable for its specialty food and wine stores. All American Soap Box Derby is a special attraction of Akron.
