General Information:
Tehran is the Persian Capital with a population of 7,314,000 and a land area of 658 square kilometers. Tehran borders Shemiranat country to the north, Damavand country to the east, Eslamshahr, Pakdasht, and Ray counties to the south, and Karaj and Shahriar counties to the west. Tehran finally became the capital of Persia in 1795, when the Qajar king Agha Mohammad Khan was crowned in the city. It remains the capital to this day!
Tehran is spread-eagled at the foot of the Alborz mountain range with a fantastic backbone of highways unusual in western Asia. It is the matrix of the country's railway network. The city has numerous large museums, art centers, palace complexes and cultural centers.
Tourist Attractions:
Borj-e Sefid or the White Tower.
The Azadi Tower is the first thing visitors come across when arriving from the Mehrabad International Airport. The tower is iconic for Tehran and is a national symbol of Iran.

The city is freckled with mosques, and there are a number of churches, synagogues and Zoroastrian fire temples.
The Peacock Throne of the Persian Shahs can be found in Tehran's Golestan Palace. The Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art is also appealing to many because it features the works of great artists such as Van Gogh, Pablo Picasso and Andy Warhol.
Tehran is also home to the world's fourth tallest freestanding structure, the Milad Tower ant the highest in the Middle East. It is scheduled to finish at 2007 and it houses several restaurants, a five star Hotel, a convention centre, a world trade centre and an IT Park.

Transportation:
Tehran currently has three operational metro lines and has an International Airport to bring in the foreign Tourists. Taxi can be taken for domestic travel, but to reach the final destination you have to change more than one. There are four Bus terminals connecting places with a lower fare rate. There is a central railway station connecting other cities round the clock with its immaculate services.
