General Information:

Male, founded by the Portuguese in the 16th Century, is the capital city and the sole entry point and administrative center of the Republic of Maldives. Situated on the Male island in the Kaafu Atoll, Male is home to two-third of the population of Maldives i.e. around 81,647 people, making it one of the most populated capitals of the world, with a coastal climate of humid summers and cool winters.
After having suffered the natural disaster of Tsunami in 2004, which claimed the life of almost two million citizens, Male has taken up drastic reconstruction procedure with the aim of making it as urbanized as it used to be before the calamity struck. Know more about Male on Allwonderscities.Com
