The old Iraqi city of Kut is a city located on the south-eastern border of the country on the banks of the River Tigris. The word Kut in Arabic means fort. The city is located in a no-fly zone as has been determined by the United States. The area has a predominant portion of marshy land that stretch from Kut in the north to the Basra in the south. Though the World War I caused immense damage to the city, kut is now gradually recovering the damages inflicted on it.

Though there is not much to see in the city, yet the scenic beauty of the landscape is sure to impress you. Enjoy an evening stroll by the banks of the Tigris River. If you manage to get a bit early in the morning then you can enjoy the sunrise. However if you are not an early riser do not worry as you can enjoy the sunset.
