General Information:
Dili, East Timor's capital city is the easternmost of the Lesser Sunda Islands. The Portuguese settled in Dili. In 1520 and made it the capital of the-then Timor in 1596.in 1975 the city declared its independence from Portugal but was again captured by Indonesia few days later. Dili became the 27th province of Indonesia and continued to be so until it was placed under the UN supervision. On May 20th, 2002 East Timor became an independent republic with Dili as its capital. Dili has almost 150,000 numbers of residents.

· East Timor National Stadium: The defaced Demokrasy murals painted on the stadium walls after 1999 are worth seeing.
