Nouakchott or the place of the winds is the capital of Mauritania. The largest city of Sahara and Mauritania is placed in the interiors of southern Mauritania. Nouakchott is the economic and administrative Hub of the country Mauritania. The city over the years has grown in population due to onslaught of draught in Sahara.

Nouakchott is a part of Muslim world with lots of exotic charm for the Tourist. The place is very safe and is a mixture of rich and slum areas with friendly people. Summers. It is difficult to recommend specific times of the year, and regions. Winter is surely the time when most will find Nouakchott at its most pleasant, but as stated above, certain areas offer pleasant stays even deep into the summer season.
When in Nouakchott, you end up walking in the streets, to the endless beaches. Inside the city centre of Nouakchott is a market where entertaining market activities goes on in the early hours of the day.

The Cinquieme district is a better market, where the artisans make handicrafts. The handicrafts are of very good quality and come at a throw away price. Of buildings to be seen in Nouakchott, there is an impressive mosque donated by Saudi Arabia in the town centre, as also the Moroccan one, further south. The National Museum of Nouakchott offers historical and ceramic exhibitions, a visit is mandatory for the Tourists.
Nouakchott is expensive; with international Restaurants for eating out and Hotel charges from thirty to hundred dollars per night.
