General Information:
Khartoum is the capital city of Sudan located on Morgan that is the confluence of the White and Blue Niles. Founded by Egyptian ruler Muhammad Ali in 1821 Khartoum grew as an Egyptian army camp and developed into a major trade center and a flourishing slave market. The city has undergone Mahdists and British domination for quite a long time. The aftermath of the Second Sudanese Civil War and Darfur conflict in the mid 1980s produced thousands of displaced people who traveled to Khartoum to take refuge on the city's outskirts. The city consists of semi desert areas with savannah vegetation. The city center is well structured with tree-lined avenues, parks, restaurants, nightclubs, shopping malls and modern high rises. It is the administrative and industrial center of Sudan. The population is beyond million. The climate is equatorial with warm and dry seasons and meager rainfalls. Huboob"s or sandstorms occur from May to August.

Tourist Attractions:
Ethnographical Museum is a most visited tourist place for its vast collection of Sudanese arts and crafts that bring out the typical Sudanese rural life. Collectibles include early tribal clothing, cooking utensils, hunting items and musical instruments.
