General Information:
The capital city of Sierra Leone Freetown lies on the Freetown peninsula on the Atlantic coast region in western Africa. Previously it was a settlement inhabited by the slaves from England, Canada and other European countries. According to the historical records the city was founded by the slaves from Nova Scotia. Britain exercised its control on Freetown by maintaining a naval base during the World War II. Today Freetown is a modern port city and the chief administrative, economic and industrial center of Sierra Leone. The population of the city is approximately 200000. With a large number of restaurants and plethora of wine bars and clubs the nightlife in the city is really vibrant. The landscape is mountainous with breathtaking scenic views. The climate is tropical characterized by hot and humid weather conditions.

Tourist Attractions:
The Sierra Leone Museum with fantastic archaeological displays like Ruiter Stone, nomoli and statue of Bai Bureh is a notable tourist spot of Freetown. The Cotton tree planted during the colonial era (1787) still stands in its good old manner welcoming people outside the museum.
