General Information:
Conakry situated on the Tumbo Island is the capital of Guinee Conakry. With a population of more than 2,000,000, Conakry is a bustling port-city and the administrative, cultural and economic center of Guinea. The city is well structured with five main districts, well planned roads, residential complexes, office buildings, industrial centers, mangrove areas, botanical gardens and palm lined streets. Avenue de la Republique or the city center is a major tourist area with variety of shops, restaurants, bars and cafes. Ratoma district with numerous bars, pubs and casinos is famous for its vibrant nightlife. The climate is arid with short rainy seasons.

Various Moorish style villas and buildings dotting Conakry attract tourists from all over the world. Conakry National Museum is a notable place with its display of antique masks, statues and musical instruments. SOGETRAG government Bus Company offers reliable services to all the major districts of Conakry. Bush taxis are common transports for shorter routes. There are no proper railway links.
