Bangui

General Information:

Bangui is the capital city of Central African Republic on the southwestern part of Africa. The city is filled with lush tropical greeneries with magnificent riverside views of the Ubangi River. Bangui was a French territorial province before CAF's independence in 1960. With broad avenues and scenic natural surroundings Bangui is a charming port city and a place worth to visit. Bangui has an equatorial climate with very hot and humid weather.

Tourist Attractions:

'K-Cinq' intersection, quite a few kilometers from town is a popular tourist area for its many restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Lying at the very heart of Bangui, the Place de la Republique with its large white arch monument is really awe-inspiring. Other places of interest include the colorful Central Market, the Arts and Crafts School, the Cathedral, the Saint Paul Mission and the Hausa Quarter. The Grande Corniche leads to the banks of the Ubangi with great views of the city.

The remote Lobaye Region with Basse-Lobaye Forest is inhabited by indigenous forest tribes living in huts made of lianas and wild leaves. A number of beautiful villages can be found in the M'Baiki Region, southwest of Bangui.

Boali Waterfalls, near the charming and picturesque village of Boali is unique.

Transportation:

There are direct flights to Bangui from Paris, New York and other cities in Africa. The flights are organized from Berbarati. Chartered passenger planes are also available to tour the whole city. Limited car hire is available like the chauffeur driven cars. Some trips can be made by canoe on the Ubangi River.

Shopping:
Marche Central is the central market of Bangui. It is located nearby the port. It's a large street market with displays of retail and wholesale good items. Indigenous African artifacts and handcrafts make wonderful tourist sales. There are many good shopping centers on the 'K-Cinq' intersection.

Hotels:
There are a fair number of great hotels in Bangui that provides comfortable accommodation. Most of the hotels have expensive clubs and beer halls. Hotel Bangui located on banks of Ubangi River, near town center is one of the most luxurious hotels of Bangui.
