Bamako

General Information:

Bamako located on southwestern part of Mali is the capital city situated on the bank of River Niger. The scenic views of the Niger River and the Upper and Middle Niger Valleys are spellbinding. Bamako is a crowded port city with traffic congestion. It is Mali's chief administrative and industrial center. The population of the city is between 200000-300000. The climate varies from subtropical to arid.

The major airport of Mali, Senou International Airport is located in Bamako. Many international and domestic flights are operated through this airport. Air Afrique, Gambia Airways, Ghana Airways, Nigeria Airways and Air Guinea connects Bamako with other African countries. Bus is a common local transport. Taxis are yellow in color and with a taxi sign on their roof. Taxis without any sigh are used for private hire. Cars, mopeds, trucks, donkey carts, bicycles, goats and sheep are other local transport modes.

Shopping:
Bamako Market on the center of the city is a vibrant place with a good number of stalls and shops. Variety of clothes, jeweleries, musical instruments, beads and regional handcrafts are popular items of display.
