Asmara |
Asmara is the capital of Eritrea on the east of Eritrea's highland plateau. Asmara consisted of a group of beautiful villages in the early times. The name Asmara comes from Arbaete Asmara that means, "the united four villages" in the Tigrinya language. The Italian government made it the capital later on. Hence the Italian colonial flavor is reflected on the architectural and cultural tradition of the country. Asmara is a well-structured city with palm fringed streets, residential complexes, official quarters, restaurants, shopping malls and cafeterias. Above all a pleasant climate all year round makes Asmara one of the alluring cities of Africa.
