Accra on the southern part of Ghana is a bustling capital city and the administrative, economic and cultural center of Ghana. The name Accra has been derived from the word Nkran meaning ants linking with the various anthills that form the scenic backdrop of the city.

Accra was a major trading center in the early periods. It contains several historical forts built by the Swedish, British, French and Dutch people.
